12 Things To Focus The Day

April 1, 2016

When the list is too big, the feelings too much...

Here are 12 questions to help you improve and focus your day, or maybe simply the next two minutes.

If you’re lost, stuck, overwhelmed, uncertain, overstimulated, bored, apathetic, worried, scattered, scared and not sure what to do next from the list of things on your to-do list or bouncing around in your head, ponder these questions.

The questions will help you sort out all the pressures internally and externally that have you spinning.

One or more of these will rise to the surface, jump out at you producing clarity inside, make you scoff, make you take a deep relaxing breath, produce a spontaneous “a-HA!”, or create a peaceful knowing of “yes” in your body to help you with what is the next, right, one thing to do in your day.

  1. Why is this on my list at all?
  2. Is today, right now, the only time I can do this or is there flexibility on this?
  3. I "have to" do this today... (wait, is that true?)  How can I make this fun or enjoyable or get help or get it done differently so it’s not such a pain?
  4. Will this thing really matter a week from now, a month from now, a year from now, 10 years from now?
  5. Can I delegate this, or ask ________ to do it instead of me, or hire someone to do it instead?
  6. What is the actual time estimate for doing this, and do I want to spend my time and energy and that amount of time and energy today doing it?
  7. Can this thing be broken down into smaller steps over X number of hours or days to make it more manageable and achievable?
  8. What story am I telling myself about this, and what can I tell myself instead?
  9. What’s the one thing I can do that will matter most to me?
  10. How will doing this make me feel, how will it feel to get it done?
  11. What would love to be doing right now?
  12. What would love want me to do right now?
